We’re expanding!
The vision is big and we need your support.
What began in 2024 as a collection of Aneri’s personal essays turned into Not Quite…a zine, a book that she wrote, published, and sold out at the Women in Medicine conference. She then created Not Quite… a podcast of the same comedic tone, exploring the weird ways humans connect, growing it to 30,000 subscribers in less than a year across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Apple, and Spotify.
We’re turning Aneri’s journey into Season 1 of Not Quite… a web series.
Buy one of the special edition copies of the zine that inspired the series, get something special, and help us fund Season 1.
Not Quite…
a unique book of personal essays exploring a modern woman’s journey through the mess.
with love, by Aneri Shah
What is Not Quite… a web series?
Based on the essays contained in the zine, plus several of Aneri’s other adventures, we’ve filmed 9 unique stories that bring the world of Not Quite… to life in a visually expressive narrative format, exploring what it looks like for a woman to gain permission to be herself in different phases of her life.
Each of these short episodes will be released across YouTube, Instagram Reels and TikTok, expanding the audience we’ve built across North America, the UK, and India.
I want to support this project and buy a zine. How does it work?
To help us reach our funding goals, we’ve decided to sell the zine at a premium and offer two tiers - the Kuch Kuch Hota Hain (KKHH) Tier for $1,000 and the Dragonfly Tier for $500.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hain is a very classic Bollywood movie and it means “Something is Happening”. Which it is!!!!
We’re excited to bring you into this. No matter which tier you choose, you’ll have our gratitude for being a part of this journey with us.
You can check the FAQ below for a detailed list of the benefits being offered to our contributors for each tier.

Hi, I’m Aneri
Here’s the deal. A few years ago I took a series of very personal essays - about queerness, abortion parties, solo trips to Paris - and turned them into a self-published, uniquely artistic book. Black and white, with gorgeous illustrations by Ragni Agarwal. It's a work of art, which I sold to bookstores, friends, and random people who appreciate raw human thoughts and beautiful design.
"I've never seen a South Asian woman write so unapologetically. You should turn this into a series."
Our engineer-turned-film director from Bhopal, who I met because my dog Lucy was sniffing him at a coffee shop in Los Angeles.
We took the book, created the vision, and just finished filming 9 3-5 minute episodes with a cast of 28 and crew of 21 - some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet hailing from India, the US, and more. Now we need your help to finish it.
To celebrate and raise the rest of the funds, we printed the last few hundred copies of the book and we're giving you a chance to grab one and support our amazing team! Every purchase goes toward finishing the edit, the music, and putting it out into the world - across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
Photos from set
Our five days of filming, alongside an amazing team of creatives, some who grew up in India and others in the US, was truly magical. We’ve never laughed more.
We’re doing more than making content, we’re making content that belongs to both places at once. And it’s only the beginning…
A sincere thank you to our entire cast & crew

Since then, Not Quite… has grown into being a podcast, a Substack newsletter, and now we’re making a web series under the same name. Not Quite… is simply put, a story-telling project, that exists in various forms and continues to evolve…

We’ve already spent five days alongside an incredible team of artists to film the script for our web series. We’re now ready to sit down with everything we filmed to start the post-production phase. This means editing the film, producing original music for it, and building anticipation for the release of the series through an extensive marketing plan, to make sure we get as many people to watch our series as possible.
